Increase your Google Adsense Income with Link Units

If you have been making websites, visiting websites then I am sure you might have surely heard about Google Adsense and above all if you are a hubber, who has been making hubs on hubpages, then for sure you understand what Google Adsense is and how the Google Adsense works.

I am not going to write more about the Google Adsense Program here as we all are familiar with Google Adsense and how to make money with Google Adsense.

I have been using this program since last 6 years and with time, I have learnt many good things and I sometimes feel that I could have earned more right from the beginning, if I had not done some mistakes. I am going to give tips about monetizing your content and how to avoid some mistakes, so that you can increase your online earnings from Google Adsense.

Money making process, be it offline or online, is not easy. Both requires hard work, dedication, guidance and yes of course patience. You should not loose heart by seeing your monthly earnings, which are not good enough to pay your Starbucks bill also. Instead you must go out and read information. It is all available on the web. But then, sometimes we get confused with what is called information overload. And Google Adsense is one just program which is most talked about and most written about subject on the web. This is natural, because Honey,it 's all about money :)

Just having a website or joining content publishing platform is not enough to earn money online. There are many other factors involved. One must understand keywords, SEO, internet marketing for making money over the web.

I do consider myself very successful when it comes to making money online. Though I have been in the software profession since a very long time(15 years), I never got a chance or had the inclination to look beyond my client projects, my technologies. Moreover I felt that making money online is for those who sit at home, work at home moms, sit at home moms and not for professionals like us, who are having a good job, a good paycheck. But I was wrong and 8 years before, with the birth of my first child, my journey into money making process started. 

My initial encounter( is it the right word!), well I will say introduction(this sounds better) with online money making was when I was on my maternity leave and had to take care of my baby. I started surfing the net for parenting resources (and not for checking out some design architecture theory or syntax of a sql query). When I used to be free for some time, after feeding the baby, I used to surf a lot and look at various baby related information, baby's development, milestones, vaccination, how to photograph a baby etc. And during that time I came across many websites hosted by work at home moms, but the sites were not professional, they were just being hosted on free domains like geocities, tripod etc. That's when the idea to start a website of my own struck me. But I was new to domain, hosting services etc.. though I was in the web business but in the office we were just working on client projects, client provided servers.

I will soon be doing a hub on my initial encounter with web business. So keep checking my updates.To cut the story short, yes that is how I found about google adsense, affiliate marketing, PPC and terms like internet marketing. And today, I am a very proud owner of a few baby websites and yes I am happy with my monthly Google Checks.(It's in 4 figures).

If you are aware of Google Adsense and Google Ad Formats, then you must be knowing what Link Units are. Google serves ads in various formats ie rich media flash/animation, images, text and links. While we do give great importance to other ad formats and position them properly on our sites, we ignore the amount of money link units can bring in. Using link units properly and with proper analysis was one of the major factors which contributed to my success with online money making story. Here are the tips for Link Units -

1. Use Link Units on all your pages: Google allows use of three link units per web page, so use them in all your pages. They have very good click through rate (CTR). You will surprised to see that sometimes link units outperform your text links.

2. Use Link Units near your navigation section: It is a good idea to place your link units in such a way that they match to your navigation/menu section.

3. Matching colors: Your link units color combination should be matching to your other navigation colors.
